I've got my C72 back on the road after its major rebuild. Can anyone suggest to me what the answer may be to the problem that when I close the throttle the engine revs hold for a second or two then
drop down to tickover.
I have replaced all of the things you would expect. It starts first time . ignition timing is spot on. It has a brand new advance mechanism, new O - rings between head and carb, The throttle cable is free, and the slide is free. Could it be as simple as needle height or similar?
Also lights all work OK when engine not on, but when running if I move ignition switch to headlights on, it blows a fuse?

C72 carb adjustment?Blowing fuseTry taking your headlight out of the housing but leave the wires connected. Is there a rubber cover or something over the wires on the back of the headlight? If not, with a good fuse in place and the key switch in the headlight position, move your high/low switch back and forth. If the fuse doesn't blow it was probably a headlight lead on the back of the light grounding against the speedometer. I just helped a guy with this problem and we ended up wrapping it with electrical tape. No more blown fuses.
I think the headlight originally came with a rubber cover over the electrical connections that keeps the wires from grounding out. The rubber is pretty thin and deteriorates over time. His was no longer there and mine in't either.
