Michael, Isn't that exhaust the "special option" police exhaust that also doubles as a billy club? Steve Greer

Think "Farm animal hygene".

Now that's a real pretty picture.

I've never seen any like those but, while I was stationed in Japan (while in the USAF) in 67'-69', I
bought a set of muffler replacements for my 66' CB72. They were straight pipes (same length as
original mufflers) that slipped onto the exhaust pipes (just like the mufflers did) and they had baffles
that slipped in and were held in place by a single small capscrew (like the ones on the CL 72/77
models. Sure wish I still had them and the bike! I don' have any pictures.

Later on, Bill

Aftermarket "Mufflers"

Post by CR93Dave » Sat Dec 29, 2007 5:05 pm

These were sold by several aftermarket suppliers in the mid 60's such as Florida Cycle out of Jacksonville. Fl. They were cheaper, but most people did not like the looks. As I recall they were louder than than the stock pipes at higher rpm. One of the magazines did a test on aftermarket mufflers and these had a noticeable HP loss over the stock ones as well as being louder.
