'65 front fender question for the pros..

Post by junk726 » Sat May 21, 2011 2:59 am

Ok..so i figured i'd ask u guys..i'm slowly learning the differences on the models..mine being titled as a 66..but i know now its a 1965 cl77;)..so that being said..mine of course has no front fender..i'm going to make mine a rider..BUT wondering how difficult it may be to track down a front fender for it? I'm sure it's no small task..and patience could pay off..but also wondering IF eventually i track one down..what do they usually go for? Ballpark? I know every situation could be different..just curious..as im sure those who have seen mine noticed no front..and the rear has been cut by original owner:( rear fenders tough also to find im sure? Any info/help GREATLY appreciated! Thanks all!

Check them out on E-bay. I think I seen some there last night. Seems to me they were in the $100 range.

After reading some threads about E-bay purchases I have to say be careful what and who you buy from.
I am sure you know that. You should be able to pick up something from the "forum" Have a good one.

Junk, you need an 8 hole fender and bracket. The 65 used a steel fender. My friend that I'm doing a resto-mod CL72 for just bought an aluminum fender and braket on Ebay for a bit over $500. I bought a couple parts bikes 2-3 years ago for $200, and one has a nice uncut 8 hole fender and bracket. If you're not in a hurry, you can find a deal on one. Study pics and know what you're looking for. Rears are cheaper and more plentiful for CL77s as fewer people modified them.

thanks guys! Im patient..and in NO hurry...so i will keep searching and see what turns up..i would like to find one by the time i decide to repaint the tank and side covers..so im hoping to find a rear and front fender and just do them at the same time;) so until i find the front and rear..im just gonna run it as is:) no worries..and maybe one more thing for this newb;)..when u say "8 hole" front..im pretty sure on my forks i saw two holes on each inner fork leg? they were steel front legs (i did the magnet trick u guys told me to determine if i had a 65..and it is the small brake front;) so im not too sure the mount points on it? i was assuming i needed a fender that had 4 holes (2 each side?) Forgive me..as ive never actually seen a 65 front fender in the flesh so to speak..or i'd have a better visual in my head what i need to look for....and yah..ebay is fun to search..BUT i am amazed at what stuff sells for! wow..u sure gotta pay to play in the Scrambler world! but im lovin it! thanx again!

Hi Junk

You need a fender and brace that looks like this: It was for sale last year but I've since picked up another CL72 which only cost me 50% of the cost of the fender!!

Be patient and something will turn up. I got this one when a guy I bought some Dream parts from offered it to me.
