I just purchased a CL72 Scrambler to rebuild. Its in rough shape and the motor is locked up. It had been sitting behind a garage and the motor was found full of water, so I guess I have my job cut out for me. Can anyone tell me the year of the bike? The motor is a 247cc and lists the following: CL72E-312801 and has a cover that shows Type 1.
Also shouldn't the engine number match the frame number CL72-312807?

Help needed in Virginia with manufacture dateWelcome to the forum. The '3' at the start of each number suggests 1963. The numbers are close together so you have an original pairing, most likely. They are hardly ever the same.
