Stator/rotor Question

Post by zoom » Sun Mar 27, 2011 8:29 pm

just got my 305 (64 CA77) apart today. so I have been surfing the threads gathering info. I only wqnt to do this once, and right the first time around. Have know idea on the hx of this motor. only that I can tell somebody was in there before me. So my thoughts....the CB77 rotor exchange and rick"s stator kit and the electronic ignition mod. Or is this overkill. Just plan on driving this locally.
Oh ya, should I put a new rotor bolt on reasembly? I do on my other bikes cause their torque is up at 80ftlbs

Zoom,

Sounds like overkill to me. Modern rectifier, LED tail light bulb, and you should be good to go. Does MN make you ride with headlight during daytime?

No they do not, but I wouldn't ride without it on anyway. Always want to increase your visibility.

If you want to run with H/L on all the time, go for an early rotor.

Is that the one marked CB72 and no L on it? Is there a way to check the patency of the stator before it goes back on?
Also, do I use a new rotor bolt on reassembly or is the old one ok

you made me think with that answer. My head already hurts. Just came in from the garage, I have never been into a motorcycle engine this far or any other 4 stroker before. I got like a bazillion questions, but all in due time.
