i'm returning my CL77 to stock honda cause the prev. owner destroyed the wiring harness (A & B) and i don't know where the rectifier mounts to the frame with all his mickey mousing the brackets might be gone.
this is my first scrambler restore/rebuild and i don't have a manual for reference but i do have the forum ( woo hoo !! )
please a photo of the correct placement would be great and once in stock condition i can re-install the solid state that it came with.

thanks for the reply i found whats left of one ear and kind of retro'd the connectors and re attached the solid state rectifier. theres only 3/4 of one of the ears lefty and thats where i'm hanging the solid rect. from thanks again all part of the processthat would have been great 2 months ago but this bike i think i'm just gonna ride around this summer than sell it and start a new one with alot more knowledge.
after i took this cl77 home i found alot of damage that was well hidden. i apprieciate the offer and your a wealth of information and that's for real take care I'm very doubtful that the stock rectifier will remain dangling from that one ear very long. If this is just a patch up effort, I would pop rivet a piece of metal to what's left of the other ear and then mount the rectifier as it was originally mounted between two ears. Mounting from the one remaining ear will most definitely result in that ear cracking and failing.
Even the solid state recifiter and mount should use both ears if that is where you mount it. Long thin pieces of sheet metal with stuff hanging from them is never a good idea on something that vibrates. They act like a reed and if you happen to hit their natural frequency will fail pretty quickly. regards, Rob
