CL77 exhaust...
CL77 exhaust...Just out of curiosity, how much does a decent used set of cl77 pipes go for? I'm debating on going with the high pipes on my CB77 build and want to know what I should expect.
BTW, if anybody has a set that they are willing to do a trade on for other parts, let me know. CL pipesCyclone, I've seen decent sets(light rust) on e-bay for fairly low prices. I think there might be some on there now. Expect to pay in the 100-200 dollar range for a usable set. A good CL muffler on the other hand is fetching good money.......................D
Re: CL pipesThanks for the tip. So far, I haven't found a complete set on ebay. Are there other models of CL that fit the 305 block? I know nice sets with the muffler intact fetch a good price. I don't want to hack up a decent set either so a little bit of rust is what I'm after. When you are considering a set, asked if all the spot welded nuts are in place for the heat shields. I've seen some missing a few of these. Easy fix if you can braze, but a fix nonetheless.
Somebody has already mentioned short pipes. Also ask if there are drilled for snuff r' nots. None of these are big issues, but they detract from the value as compared to a nice original set. regards, Rob
Thanks for the heads up. I don't plan on running the heat shields on them so I might luck out in a pair that has a few things missing. I saw the photo of eyhonda's CB77 cafe and it just looks so appealing to go the same route he has. [quote="cyclon36Thanks for the heads up. The CL exhausts have brackets for mounting the heat shields that are pretty ugly if the heat shields are not mounted. If you want a clean, slick looking exhaust, you will have to cut off the brackets and grind the welds smooth. It's your choice, but I suspect that you will want some type of heat shield. The first time you burn your leg or hand or something plastic when it inadvertantly touches those pipes, you'll wish you had. The CL pipes are not double wall like a lot of Honda pipes. regards, Rob
