CylindersCylindersAnyone ever have cyl. sleeves that are ever so slightly sticking out above the gasket mating surface?I have one side like this and the sleeve is seated the whole way.Is this a problem?thanks
That's not a problem, if they sink under the mating surface its not good. Up to .003" above is acceptable according to the Silver book. I just got a cylinder block for my CA77 that was the same way, one was flush and the other up about a thousandth. The metal ring on the head gasket will crush to fit.
thanks,I also have another block that was from a tear down that has a nick in the gasket mating surface near the sleeve.Must of happened in a previous repair. The nick is about 1/4 inch long and might be a few thousands deep or so.would this cause and issue?Did not seem to be causing a problem when I was running the engine the last few years.
