Lens with EU/NL approved markLens with EU/NL approved markHi all,
My CB77 is practically done now, so im now busy with checking the last things needed for a license plate. ( don't have it yet for the bike ) So everything must be made correct for Dutch/EU roads. One mayor issue is the headlight/lens , I don't see any markings on it, no EU or NL stamp on it. So I know I have to change that part, for another lens that is correct for Dutch roads. But I don't know where to look for this, Jensen probably know's more about this issue. But on CMSNL I see this lens : http://www.cmsnl.com/products/331w0-292 ... 120268010/ Bigger pic : http://images.cmsnl.com/img/products/33 ... 1_3f01.jpg It is clearly different from the one that's on my CB77 now : As the CMSNL's one got some sort of ribble's on the side, and has a few 'flat' spots on the bottom and at the top. And it got some stamps too. But I don't know if this lens will be approved for Dutch roads, so if someone knows more about this issue...[/img] 'Of course I've already taken a very modest position on the monetary system, I do take the position that we should just end the Fed.' - Ron Paul
Re: Lens with EU/NL approved markI have one, in very good order, with 'NL' marking on the lens. Bosch BA20-type lamp. I need a replacement for it, so if yours is serviceable, with a good reflector perhaps we could do a swap? I'll post an image later this pm.
Images herewith, as promised. The rusty edge is not life-threatening; I've kept it doused in WD40. The lacquer got undermined, prior to my ownership; it just needs some rust converter and titivating.
The reflector is perfect. Forgive the little patch of black overspray on the lens -- I'd just not got around to kissing it with some wire wool. Let me know if it suits your needs. Thanks steve, the lens looks good !
I know 81euro is a lot of money, if it isn't period correct does not bother me to much. No one will notice that, and if it function's well im happy with it. Im not an all to hardcore/it must be orginal ! guy, I just want a nice riding old bike and enjoy it :) Ive already mailed CMSNL , and wait for them what they have to say about it (probably hear it tomorrow) . If they can make me a nice offer, I probably go for that one. But it would be nice if we can do a swap, mine is in good condition too. (needs to be cleaned on the inside though with some toiletpaper :P , as it is a little bit greasy, I forgot to do that) Ill make a few picture's of it to when I have it off the bike, so you can see if it suits your bike. Jensen's offer is a nice one too ! I let you guy's know, It all depend on CMSNL what they have to say. In view of the fact that you're not too fussy about having a 'period' unit (which mine is), then surely you'd be better off buying a 162mm H4 unit from Candlepower? It has a better light projection and, used in conjunction with the 35/35W Philips MotoVision H4 lamp (about ¾ down the page here), is excellent.
They also supply the unit with a 45/45W halogen lamp (should be just supportable with your charging system, especially if you go the LED taillight route) for US$48, plus shipping.
