RK Wrenches

Post by 48lesco » Thu Feb 03, 2011 10:05 pm

I came across 10x12 and 14x17 open end wrenches marked with the usual "HM" on one side, but "RK" on the other. The wrenches in my CB77 and CA77 kits are all "KOWA." What were the "RK" wrenches issued with? Can't find much reference to RK wrenches online???

I was told the RK stands for repair kit and the first appearance I have seen in my research is that the RK was added sometimes after 1968. Before that wrenches were marked with an A. The 10x12 wrench was introduced with the cb350F in 1973 and 14x17 is also from a cb350F. Now the strange part I have a cb350k4 and it has a 14x17 in the tool kit. So I am still doing research on this as well as working on a website about Honda and other motorcycle tool kits. I plan to put something up in about a week on the forum about early tool kits to solicit advice and correctness. of the kits i have.
Thanks,

Kirk

Thanks Kirk - I have a '66 CA77 and a '64 CB77 that I have been putting together tool kits for. The CB77 had a good start with only the tappet wrench and 10x14 wrench missing. The CA77 had nothing to start with. You can spend a lot of time trying to figure out what came in the original kits. I look forward to seeing what you've found out. Post the link to your website, I'd like to see it. There's a website for the 60's tool kits vintagetoolkit.com but it isn't 100% accurate.

WHOOPS!!! Didn't mean to insult your website - I should have said it was 99% accurate! I think the only things I noticed were that I don't believe the CB77 tool kit ever came with a points file, and the axle wrenches in the CL77 and CB77 kits looked the same. Another point of interest that I'm sure you're aware of is that the owner's manuals and parts fiche often give conflicting information on the tool kit for these bikes (no tire spoons in the CB77 owner's manual). I don't own a CL77, and the axle wrench for that one is interesting because the axle nuts changed when the front and rear axle set ups changed. I was trying to compile a spreadsheet of the 250/305 tools with the correct part numbers, etc. I can send that to you if you want to check/improve it. I've seen a lot of our members make expensive mistakes trying to put together a "correct" tool kit, and I wanted to provide a resource to help that. Send an email to swmrescue@cox.net and I'll reply with it if you want.

Not a problem and not an insult. It is pretty much from the parts fiche online. So I know it is incorrect I have just been to lazy to change it. The spark plug wrench on the site is actually the same one all the way through and is for a cb77, cb72, cl77, cl72 and not any of the bikes on the site. This is because The class i was doing the site for the professor said i had to have a spark plug wrench in every photo. I am really looking for the tool kit page from a 1961 or 1962 parts book, but have had no luck finding even a printed one.

Thanks,

Kirk

48, I'll attach a pic of a CA77 tool kit which I think is stock & unmolested. I'm not sure if spare fuses came in the pouch. PO also added a spare dash bulb in a sand paper roll & a small allen.
Also, I have 3 different Axle Wrench sizes. 23x 32mm is correct for the CA & CL.
Keep up the good work. Scram64
I am in need of a Axle wrench 23 x 32mm cash or trade for tools
