CA77 Crankshaft Ball Bearing.. Which One?

Post by GeorgeP1111 » Wed Feb 02, 2011 10:25 am

My crank ball bearing feels a tad lumpy when I turn it by hand, the other roller bearing feel nice and smooth. I see in the CA77 Parts book that there are actually 3 different part numbers for this bearing and the motor numbers somewhat overlap. #14 91001-259-010 and 91001-259-020, #14A 91002-259-010. My motor # is 1023944 so I'm not sure which one is correct for me. The current bearing is a NAGHI 6306S6HS, the #14A 91002-259-010 bearing is listed as 63062 in the book so I assume that it is not the one to look for.

The reason for "Refreshing" this motor was because of excessive (at least that was the way it felt to me over the 11 other motorcycles I have owned including one other CA77) vibration. So far I have found that the Cam Chain Roller Guide Pin had been destroyed so the roller was just floating between the chain (got new pin, roller & chain), one cam bearing was a bit noisy (replaced all 4), and the Kick Starter bushing #17 was shot (still have to find one of these). Maybe this crankshaft bearing is not all that bad, but I can feel bumps in it when I rotate it so I think I should probably replace it.

tnx
George

The 14A is for the right (rotor) side.
If ya have a bad bearing ya can still get them from HONDA. (if in doubt, throw it out) ...........lm

So the 14A is the ball bearing that can be used to replace the #2 roller bearing, good to know... thanks. About the other #14 two numbers 91001-259-010 and -020, the parts book listing for the -020 says CA77E-110301 to -, so I take this to mean all engines beyond #110301 including mine? Reason I ask is because Western Hills shows the -010 as costing $32.76 and the -020 as being replaced by 91001-286-00 at a cost of $48.49. Which one do I buy?

tnx

Cheaper is good... Will Do.

Now I just got to get that old one off. Can you use a 3-finger puller and take the bearing and weight off together?

Thanks
George
