Steering lock key stuck
Steering lock key stuckShyt!
I had the key in the steering lock (it is stuck) and my son turned handlebars straight so the the fork metal work went over the key and now I can't turn the bars back to get at the key?!? I just have the one key and don't want to break/bend it. Any suggestions? Thx roadcapDen '65 Dream 305 Tricky one!
Is it the key that is catching on the forks or has it locked the steering? If the key is catching, you could try sliding a thin blade between key and forks so that the fork will slide over the bent key. If the steering is now locked you may have to try and saw the end of the key with a small hacksaw, leaving enough sticking out so that you can still get something to turn it. Afterwards you should be able to get the two pieces re-joined. Lastly, you may might want to try undoing the fork top and dropping the forks out of the frame, although that won't be possible if the lock is in. Let us know how you get on. Pictures would get you a better answer. G '60 C77 '60 C72 '62 C72 Dream '63 CL72
