Just got my Fulmer Zero helmet in

Post by cyclon36 » Wed Jan 26, 2011 3:26 pm

After eyeballing this thing for months I broke down and purchased it. I couldn't resist the attractive force of the rising sun. :-)

Anyway, a shop in Chicago was doing some closeouts on them and I scooped it up for $45 shipped to my door. You normally have to buy these in person as Fulmer does not allow online sales. This guy was selling his last few on ebay.

I wanted something that was low profile. After getting a Bell R/T, I had real spaceman head syndrome and had been on the lookout for something sleeker ever since. Consensus on just about every forum seemed to be that the Fulmer's were the lowest profile you can get while still being DOT. I was also told they run small on the size as well. I purchased a medium. My head is 22.5" in circumference. When I pulled it out of the box, my first thought was that I was going to return it as they're was no way my head was squeezing into this. It just looked way too small.

Anyway, I spread the straps and the darn thing slipped on like a glove. The helmet tapers around the base to give it a sleeker look and gets closer to the neck than most others I've seen. It's because of that, that it looks impossible to put on at first. I have to admit, my ears get a bit smashed sometimes during the slip on procedure but, once it's on, it fits perfect. This is definitely the lowest profile DOT helmet I've ever come across and can easily say that I'm more than pleased. Especially given the price.

The bonus is that it actually has a goggle strap on the back like the vintage helmets so I can use my Halcyons with no mods.

Nice looking helmet. Do you know what the characters say on it?

It says "my bike is cooler than yours" :-)

J/K. Not sure what it says. Could say Triumph is better than Honda for all I know. I'm sure someone can fill me in.

Made in Taiwan unfortunately. I know Fulmer was a big US brand at one point. The quality seems nice though. The inside is finished with leather and a white diamond stitch pattern on the accents. The front of the ear padding is perforated for some ventilation.

Fulmer Helmet

My Japanese friend told me it means,"Cheers for Emperor". In world war two, he says, Japan was sure they would win the war.
