Found a tooth!
Found a tooth!Removed left side cover and this lovely piece of molar fell out. It's too big for any of the sprockets I can see on the left side.
I really DO NOT want to remove and disassemble the motor, but unless I can find where this comes from, I might have to. Any ideas on where it originated and what would cause such a thing to happen on a CB77 with less than 10k miles (on the speedometer that is). I'm guessing some severe abuse would have had to occur in order to break off this puppy. I did notice the left side cover has a big glob of what looks to be JB weld (pics coming) at the bottom. Dana

toothIt's hard to tell but that does not look to be a gear tooth. Perhaps part of the casing if it shows to be broken. Maybe you could show us a different angle on that object and a close up of the broken case.
My two cents,,,,,,,,,,Rusty
toothlooks like it is time to look inside the transmission

...well hells' bells :(
I think before I crack some cases, I may as well put it all together and see if I can get some more feedback under shifting and running conditions. Can't for the life of me see how that sucker got into the left case though. BAH! Dana

There is no way i would run that motor until the cases were split. It only takes one tooth to get between two gear shafts at the wrong time and the trans is destroyed if you are lucky or the trans locks solid if you aren't
