Foreign Speedo says he's manufacturing new bushings and springs on my meter set. Just what I thought it needed. Say's it'll be ready to ship back next Wednesday.

Got my speedo back from Foreign Speedo last week and had some time to install it on Tuesday. I wanted to post a picture of the dial face showing the characteristic "6 at 60"(6000rpm @ 60mph in 5th gear) but things were not going my way. I guess I should attribute it all to having a newborn this summer, as any of you dad's know, the time spent on bikes is suddenly not what it used to be!
First, the float valve leaked, as a small puddle made evidence. No problem, vibes from the motor will fix that in a jif. NOT! 20 kicks later, I was pulling off my helmet and tossing my gloves on the ground and reaching for a spark plug wrench. Imagine a clock face with the hands sweeping faster than normal and superimpose a series of images of me repeatedly kicking, removing and cleaning spark plugs and you get the Hollywood fast forward idea. After removing the plugs and cleaning them for the 3rd time, I carefully blew out the vapor from the cylinders and reinstalled the plugs.
This time it started! Of course by this time it was 4:30 pm and finding a stretch of open road meant some frustrated threading through rush hour traffic and over the mountain to less travelled roads. The sun was getting pretty low, but I still had time to get some helmet cam footage. I was delighted to find that the meters were working smoothly and flawlessly. As I approached 60mph I could see that 6000rpm was coming up to verify the accuracy of the rebuild. I spent about 45 minutes exploring the hills and stream valley roads in all their autumnal splendor as the sun slowly settled upon the western hills. Returning home, I took the highway, testing the gauges up to 80mph. Again, flawless.
Reviewing the footage at home, I was dismayed to find that all but about 10 minutes of my footage had been corrupted by a loose connection and bumps in the road, and none of it showed the meters at speed. Oh well. Hey, whatever. I got a fall leaf ride and the repaired meters are working great. Kudos to Foreign Speedo for a job well done. I'll return to the road for some good shots later, and perhaps Micheal will allow me to post the video here somewhere!

p.s. cost of the repair was $162 usd, which if you do your research is a pretty good deal, considering this is for 2 gauges.

As evidenced by this frame grab, it's highly accurate at 0 rpm @ 0 mph!
