Hi,

On the Honda twins site (hondatwins.net) is a similar thread going on, fun.
Take a look here and read on.

Rob, here's a set of powder coated rims and spokes that I laced up this morning. I highly do not recommend powder coating the nipples, as there was powder coating in the threads, and it took a lot of time and effort to clean them out. It also made the od too large on a bunch of the nipples, and was tough to get the spoke wrench on them. No they aren't for a 305, they are for a CRF150R. They are done in the same colors as my friend's road race team's wheels.

They look nice Davo. Definitlely not a CL color.

I'm wrestling with what to do with my rims. Might take a ride over to see how they'd handle the dents and dings. I'm thinking I could lead them in, before bringing them over.

regards,
Rob

Rob, a little off topic but if you are looking for rims for a CL, I have used fronts off a GL1000 on my CL (front and rear). A nice inexpensive alloy alternative.
Thanks
Randy

Randy, I assume you have the small hubs, CL72 or a 65 CL77? The 66-67 CL77s use a 36 hole rear, and have the larger dual leading shoe brakes.

A friend of mine has an alum front rim on his CL and I was wondering if he broke down for a new rim. I'll be that's a GL rim on the front of his bike.

Too bad the spoke count is different, front and rear or that would have been a good alternative.

regards,
Rob

Damn you, Davo. During a weak moment yesterday, your posts gave me the incentive to strip my wheels and take the rims for powder coating. So now I have to clean all my nipples, clean and plate my spokes and then lace up the two powder coated rims when I get them back.

I'm gonna get you for this!!!

regards,
Rob
