And so it begins again (Scrambler find)

Post by geosar » Sat Dec 11, 2010 2:49 pm

I found two CL77's leaning against a fellow's garage. These will join the 1966 I have owned since 1971. Maybe this time I will persevere with getting one of them to run.

I will include pictures as soon as I can figure out the attachment thing. I seem to be having difficulty attaching photos with my mac pro.

Any help would be appreciated. The add an attachment does not lead to a new window or any avenue to include photos.

Since I cannot post pics yet here are the serial numbers

1004152, engine 1004165

1027343 engine 1027316

1044932 engine 1044987

So it appears I have an early 1966, late 1966, late 1967

I think the first one listed is a 65. Check the front fork lowers, if they are steel then that would cynch it. My 65 frame number starts 1007.

Thank you for the correction.

The older one does have the small brakes as well.

Here are the triplets. So I will see where I go with these. The 1965 and 1967 are frozen and getting a daily prescription of WD-40.

Gotta love AZ climate. Tough on vinyl seats and paint, but look at the chrome on the pipes and the '67 fenders.

Nice find. I have a spare '65 engine in pieces if you need parts.

If you have a good rear grap rail you'd be willing to part with, I'd be interested. PO hit mine with a circular sander to rough it up before painting over the chrome. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr.

I'd also like a set of decent rims. Chrome on mine is so-so, with some heavy pitting PO power wire brushed away.

Let me know on the grab rail and rims.

regards,
Rob

Thank you Mr Oil. I am just sorting out what I have and what I am going to do. Unfortunately the new one is only partly there and the two others are complete. I may try to keep two of them intact. I will let you know.

Got to get at least one on the road soon. It is 73 degrees here today in Arizona.
