Fork seal purgatory

Post by Dana01 » Thu Dec 09, 2010 5:44 pm

Just bought a pair of front fork seals on eBay for my 1966 CB-77. What arrived was from Parts Unlimited #FS-007, 33x46x10,5

They looked too big at first but I decided to give them a whack ... or 10! No go. They are too big to compress into the lowers.

Old seals = 1.700" (43mm)
New seals = 1.820" (46mm)

I'm going to call the seller, but a friend suggested maybe my forks are not the originals from the '66. Any way to tell??

Fork seals

According to the Bill Silvers book, early forks used a 33x46x10, later forks used a 33x43x9 seal.....D
