ca77 condensor removal

Post by forrestlanding » Sat Sep 23, 2006 2:08 pm

Can someone guide me along on the removal of the condensor? Does the engine have to be dropped to get to the condensor and do I have to go back with original or an aftermarket one,if so, what kind? Thanks for everyone's help in the past.

As far as I know you will have to drop the engine.

Aftermarket is fine. I think I bought one from http://www.olypen.com/retro/

I was able to remove a condensor on my CA77 without dropping engine.Mine had phillips head screws holding it.What I used was a homemade tool.It is a phillips bit welded to a small flat pice of metal. It was not easy to get much of a turn on the screws, but I managed. To re-install I used a piece of vacuum line and was able to put head of screw in the end of hose and get the the screw started by spinning hose and then once I got the screws in by the hose or with my fingers I was able to tighten it with the tool.It did take some time, but much easier than dropping engine.I have seen some condensors held on with hex head bolts though which may complicat matters.Joe
