CL77 Engine removal tips?CL77 Engine removal tips?I didn't see anything in Silver's books or the archives on it. I'm guessing the engine has to go out the left side? Do any covers have to come off?
Is there a thread on it I didn't find? Out the right side, when seated on bike. Remove the two left exhaust studs, saves a lot of scratches on the frame. Remove right side cover, footpeg bracket, all mount bolts, top motor mount, mount plate on right, two 14mm head bolts. The rest should be obvious.

I don't know if this applies to a CL77, but on other vertical twins I've worked on, I find that after stripping off the parts that are easily damaged, lying the bike on its side and lifting the frame off the engine is easier than lifting the engine out of the frame. Easier to grab onto, lighter and allows someone to help you without their elbows in your face. Less chance of smashed fingers, too.
