How long is exhaust header? That's really interesting. I got a set of old pipes to re-chrome and when I laid them on the bench at the chromers, one was longer than the other so I decided to take them back home. The mufflers must be different lengths then or am I missing something else?
I have a definitely very original set of pipes off my C72 Dream do I will carefully strip them down and take some measurements. G '60 C77 '60 C72 '62 C72 Dream '63 CL72

The longer one is for the left side. ..........lm
As i know it the left side header pipe will be longer than the right side. ...............lm
Forget what I said above, I found my notes from when I put the exhaust back together a couple of years ago and the LEFT pipe was "slightly" longer (my apologies, always go by what LM says). This morning I measured the distance from the flat front of the crankcase where the starter mounts to the leading edge of the mufflers and the right muffler is mounted about 1/4" further forward which makes sense with respect to the right pipe being shorter. Also from my notes, the left pipe was stamped "L" and the right pipe was stamped "S".
So, some philosophical questions still remain: 1) Why did Honda mount the left muffler slightly further aft? 2) Why is the right pipe stamped "S"? Guru's: If you don't know, make something up so we can rest.
