On the road again (again)! On the road again (again)!Just finished my first ride after installing new pistons, rings and (ahem!) cam chain. Got it up to operating temp and put about 5 mi on it.
I'll let it sit overnight and check/retorque everything tomorrow. Runs strong..... I'm loving those CA pistons Ed! I created a checklist of 305 Forum rebuild tips that I used as I put it together and it went great, started third kick! What a wonderful resource, thanks everyone! Looks greatHotshoe, Looks great, isn't this place great! Your bike looks just like mine and I can't go anywhere without someone telling me their story(usually, I use to have one of those, to which I reply, " I still do") Would like to see that checklist.................................D
Thanks D, I'm really looking forward to putting some miles on it.
It's not so much of a checklist as a 20+ page rebuild guide I put together using info I printed out from the Forum, the on-line CB77 shop manual and a couple of other resources that I organized on a clipboard and kept handy on my workbench. Not sure if that would have any value to anyone but me but I'd be glad to share it. One thing I did learn on this rebuild.... don't call an old racing buddy right after you start up for the first time and hold your cell phone up to the exhaust pipe end so he can hear a 305 w scrambler pipes rev, unless your cell phone needs oiling that is!
on the road againIts great to hear that motor fire up after a succesful rebuild or repair!! Love those CL's. Isn't this the the most amazing place to have in your note book ? A truely great community of enthusiastic people, with help and guidance like your parents would give-- and they don't say "get off the computer and into bed"!! Goodnight everyone
