Introduction thread- why are you into old Hondas? In the spirit of getting everyone to contribute to this fine website that everyone should be posting on I'd like to start an introduction thread, like the first day of a weekly self help meeting...
Anyhow- My name is Matt, I'm moments away from 34 years old, I've had old Hondas on and off for the last 14 years, I wont try and count but quite a few! My first was a 1963 CA95 in red that now lives in Arizona. I work as a Mechanical Engineer by day, like Pirsig suggests, the result of an affinity for mechanical things. I am currently performing CPR on a green CB72 of 1961 vintage, a very nice starting place. I'd like to one day cruise a Honda Juno from the early 50's. Maybe when the house is paid off... I also really like Alfa Romeos, Fuji Rabbit scooters and NSU Prima scooters. Who is next?

Also into Alfa Romeo Giuliettas and Giulias! Looking for a Giulia Super.
OK, I'll talk.
My dad owned a 1965 305 Dream back in the early 70's. He had never even ridden a motorcycle before and he was almost 50 when he bout the Dream. For those of you old enough to remember those days you might guess at what brought on this sudden desire to ride a motorcycle at 50 years of age. The OPEC oil embargo. Daddy wanted something easy on gas (he was afraid it was going to go up to a DOLLAR A GALLON!!). Anyway, my brother had that old bike in his garage for years and at some point he sold it. Wish I had gotten it but no such luck. But a few months ago I started getting serious about wanting a bike, I'd had toyed with the idea for years but was never serious. I thought about the Harleys that several guys at work had but didn't want to take out a second mortgage to get a bike. Then I remembered the old 305 my dad had and at 44 I am approaching the same age he was when he got it. So one day a few months back I walk into a friend at works office (a big time Harley guy, but very knowledgeable of old Hondas) and told him that I had decided what kind of bike I wanted to find: a Honda 305 Dream. His eyes sort of brightened up and he said he knew where one was. It was parked on the side of the road with a for sale sign on it, not a half mile from my friends house. He had been driving past it for a couple of weeks. So I go take a look and end up buying it a couple of days later. I am slowly starting to work on it, wanting to strip it down and go through her to make sure everything is OK. Hopefully I'll be riding by next spring. I will also jump in.
My name is Larry, like you couldn't have guessed, and I have just acquired a Superhawk from a friend in Vermont. Now that I have it back in Virginia the question is what to do with it. I don't know how long it has been "stored" but it was last regestered in 1981. It also has a few mod's like a non stock gas tank, extra switches added to the headlight, non stock handlebars, ... It is quite rough. But first there are some things that need attention on my '81 GL1100 Standard that I want to take care of before starting anything on the Superhawk. My other "project" bike is the '69 CL350 that I purshased new. That one is all shined up and I ride it on occasion. The primary ride is a 2005 GL1800 which replaced the 2001 that I wrecked last year. I also do a little woodworking and like Jimmy Buffet. Larry Amissville, VA
Steve,
Yes I know I can post pictures. I will once I roll the bike outside and click a few off. Where it is now in the Spousal Avoidance Unit or Man House it would have a '69 CL350 in the background and I wasn't sure that was allowed, VBG. A picture of the CL350 is posted on the vjmc.org site. Larry Pictures have been posted in the restoration topic under 1962 CB77 Rebirth.

I'll Jump InI'm new here. My name is Josh, but most people call me Duke.
Although I'm relatively young at 27, I've been into bikes for as long as I can remember. I've been into customs for some time now and am a Staff member at Chopper Web. Some years back I saw a Honda Dream and just loved the lines, the flow, the pure mechanical beauty of it. Lately, I've been wanting to restore (as opposed to chop) a Vintage Honda. I Wanted either a Superhawk, Scrambler or Dream in that order. Found a Superhawk in ATL, but that one sold before I could buy it. Found a Superhawk in Boston at the right pirce and even had a buddy who was going to hold it for me until I could get it shipped, but that guy backed out of the sale. Then, I found a pair, yes a pair, of Dreams in VA. Bad thing is I didn't have the money for the bikes and getting them shipped here. Guy selling them is a great guy and if he still has them when I scrape a little money together, I'm gonna grab 'em. Finally found a guy in NC who has a '66 Scrambler Basket case. Motor's been taken apart for a piston change and cam chain swap. Tank, side plates and front fender are missing, seat is a pan only and the exhaust is painted black with no muffler, BUT the price was right. Hoping to have it picked up in NC end of this week, beginning of next. Can't wait to get started on it. SO, I'm in need of a Tank to begin with so if ANYONE knows where I can find one, PLEASE let me know. Thanks All, Duke
