Paint or Plating - Engine Bracket & Cover On CL77

Post by kleindorf » Sat Oct 23, 2010 1:01 am

I need to know whether Honda originally painted silver or cad plated the top engine mount as well as the metal block off plate for the electric starter.Or was there some other finish used to protect these pieces.Thanks.

I think I can safely say that they weren't plated. At least I never saw any new ones that were.

Most likely, any you've seen that way, were done by an owner.

All the ones I have look like they started out with zinc or cad plate.

Then again, I could be wrong. To tell the truth, I was going with my memory and it HAS been awhile since I've even laid an eyeball on one and seems as though I should have waited to see other responses.
SO, that being said, I'll try to be more confident next time.

Later on, Bill

Both parts were zinc plated from the factory. I have them plated in clear cadnium, not as shiny as zinc, but much more durable.
