305 oil leak

Are you sure it is not a 79.5 by 3mm, that is what the parts diagram says it needs.

The 79.5 X 3 is the inboard one (installed in the side cover, closest to the oil filter). Regards, Chase

Cole, FYI, if you look into that side cover you will see the oil feed hole form the filter is between the two O rings. If the ring around the small casting where it goes into the main case is the smaller 74.5mm O ring and if is missing oil leaks into the case instead of going to where it's needed.

If the larger 79.5 mm O ring that goes around the small cover at the face is missing, oil will leak out between the covers and could also come out of the screw holes.

That outer O ring should be a sliding fit around the part of the cover that slips into the hole in the main cover. If it is way too large it will hold the castings apart instead of filling that groove at the outer face of the main cover. There is a recess in the main cover that the O ring is supposed to fit into.

Hope that makes some sort of sense.

Thanks for the information, I have ordered both o-rings new and will try to see if that stops the leak.
