Possible error for the US market.
Depending on the actual frame number this bike may be as issued by HONDA with the round bars. .......lm

Hi,

That's interesting, here (Europe) the switch was made somewhere 1963, together with the gas tank.
In the US the plate steer was never issued according to my Honda parts manuals nr. 2, 3 and 4 on the CA72 / CA77. Yes, reveal us the frame number.

If it is a CA72 / CA 77 type, no tubular steer, if it is a C72 / C77 before number 311***, a plate steer is correct.

Looking at the gas tank (early type) I concluded that the plate steer should go with it, apparently not in the US,

I thought the tube type bars with the external throttle assy were correct on this model, the handgrip with the external throttle cable setup came with the bike in a box of parts.

I will use the front fender off of the black 65 dream, also if you look close at the front forks (or whatever they are called) you will see a ripple in them where they are bent, I will also use the black front for this also.

The mufflers are solid but very dented and some rust, not stainless unfortunately.

Your comments and suggestions are appreciated

Hi,

Yes, according to what we found out today, the CA from '61 should have tubular steering, so it's correct.

Are you sure that it is rust on your mufflers ?, Sometimes the stainless mufflers are very brown (burned in).

CA models was made for US, and had tubular steering on all, same on CA95. Here in Europe, it was standard later, around 1963.
