I picked up a burned out (but otherwise perfect) bulb off eBay for $5 and a new halogen bulb for $10. I haven't put the two together yet, but I've done it in the past to other headlights.

That said, if you had a nice setup for HID and I could send you the burned out bulb and have you retrofit the HID into it then I might consider it. If you're doing the legwork to find an HID system that will fit nicely inside the bucket, put the right load on the electrical system, not overheat, etc.. then I wouldn't mind paying you for saving me from doing that.

Hi,

Why don't you buy an European version, it has the replaceable bulb setup (and a parking light too).
And while you're busy, here on the forum there is a link to a company who sells special bulbs for old bikes, ask eSteve for details, but using the search function is also possible.

I use Paul Goff in the UK. He ships worldwide, carries abundant stocks and, consequently, despatches quickly.

It's worth clicking around his site (on the red or blue spheres) as it's very informative.

Regarding the Dream beam unit: I'd say $100 isn't cheap but, on the flipside, all things considered -- like the fact that it's a pretty odd-ball unit in this day & age -- it's not that expensive either. Depends on your viewpoint and how ready you are for some open-wallet surgery, I s'pose.

nc_rider, care to share the Wisdom(and pics :)? I haven't done this operation yet, but I've been curious to see how it's done...I imagine the procedure is pretty much the same: the bulb has no idea (or how irreplaceable) it is...

I can't remember who said it, but 'If you can think it, you can achieve it'; I like that idea, myself...

I just bought a headlight on Ebay for 65$ and i would love the oppurtunity to have a replaceable light system that you are talking about. keep me in mind if it ever happens, I'll take two. Randy Z.

replaceable bulb

Post by Kevmcp » Mon Nov 08, 2010 8:19 pm

I am in production right now. The lamps will be like brand new, with halogen bulbs, brighter and cleaner light. They should be done by the end of December. They will be very affordable, less than I said before, but I will keep you posted on that.

I am also re-popping mufflers, header pipes, cables, front fender bumpers, luggage racks, rear fender bumpers and crashbars.

They will all be for sale sometime in January.
