To everyone who orders parts online...
I understand I am the idiot in the scenario. I should have listened to more people. But I am desperate to finish this project. It has consumed me. In such a difficult time in my career it has been my worry rock and a great exhaust of stress. I merely wanted to express how poor the product was that I received. The response back was unacceptable.
I had one experience with Apex Cycle. I bought a header/muffler assembly from them for a Honda S90. I spoke with him about the fit and he assured me he has sold many of them without any complaints. I bought the muffler and of course, it did not fit. I knew there would be a fastener difference, but the header pipe did not have the proper bend so even with the mod I knew I would have to do, it would have been assembled in a highly stressed condition which I was not willing to do. I contacted him and sent it back to him. I remained cordial in all my emails and I did have to pester him a bit. But he did refund my money. So although I would never take another chance with him nor his products, I did get a fair shake with the return.
I did learn that he travels quite a bit, which is the reason he claims he is not responsive all the time. Although when I was asking questions and getting ready to buy, he was very resonsive. His responses only got sluggish when I was looking to return the item. But with some diligence on my part, he eventually made things right. regards, Rob That thread in Product Reviews was a very interesting read. My experience with Tom was this past winter. So, he may have realized by now that how you treat people catches up with you. And it catches up even faster with help from the internet.
My guess is Tom is not native born to the US. Tom is probably a name he's taken since arrving here. His real name is probably Aw Fook Yu (That was on Leno last night). Having worked overseas, there are some countries where everything is done with brute force, including getting a table in a restaurant. You have to be rude and demanding or people walk all over you. I suspect Tom might come from a culture like that and does not realize it does not work in the USA. Crappy quality is another thing that is taken for granted in many 3rd world nations. I had a house boy (man actually) from India that told me about appliances made there that did not work when you got them home. This was back in the 80's. I would see people in the airport in Saudi during the Haj, trying to check appliances as baggage because the stuff sold in their countries was garbage. My guess is Tom's offshore suppliers send him junk with no redress. He's stuck with whatever he gets and just passes it on. Hard to believe he's stayed in business this long. regards, Rob
