New CL77 Member with problems

My new (to me) '67 is also cold blooded. Although it improved significantly with a cleaning of the carbs and resetting the valves. Intakes were way too tight. I must admit that I did not read the entire thread before replying here so excuse the comment if you already did this. But if you did not, I would check the valve clearance. I found the intakes way tight.

My bike is pretty original if you want to see another '67. My numbers are 105 range so a little newer than yours. Check my post with the subject " not a wannabe anymore" in this section. Link to photobucket with pics.

Yeah....ideally after warming up it should be all the way down (away from the seat)

Could be wrong, but those pipes aren't correct for a '67. '67 introduced the slip on "muffler", so this was either pulled off or these are pipes from an earlier model.

Ya are misinformed as to when the Slip On muffler introduced.
It CAme with the first CL77 and was added to the CL72

I am in NJ - my father owned my 1967 CL77 from practically the beginning (he purchased from original owner in 1967, few months after new). I've had it since about 1990.

My bike has the slip on muffler, and honestly, I prefer the more "raw" open, double pipe. As I've seen many pics of the '65 and '66 CL77s without the slip ons, I made the assumption that it was introduced in '67.

Was it a factory option? I'd love to remove it, but the bike has only 8,300 miles and is 99.999% original (including the tires, only the front brake and clutch cables) have been changed), so I don't want to swap it out.
