Super Hawk Seat Interchangeability

Post by TERRY MCARTHUR » Thu Aug 12, 2010 8:50 pm

I've got a '67 Super Hawk with the flat deck seat and I really love the look of the seat that tips up in front where it meets the tank. Does anybody know if the two seats are interchangeable? I see a guy in Thailand has the seat on Ebay and says it's only for the late model Super Hawks but doesn't know what serial numbers would be correct or the corresponding Honda Part number.

Anybody out there have first hand experience changing their seat?

Thanks. I thought the picture of the seat pan looked right, but with my luck, I'll order the seat, spend the $$$'s and then it wouldn't fit!

The only difference in mounting the CB seats applies to the '61-model frame; the tail-end mounting forks are about 50mm (2") shorter.

Oh man, Steve you poor, poor guy!
Holiday in France????
What possessed you?

Thanks for your input. My bike's a 67 so I'm still thinking the seat will work okay.

It ain't so bad, Terry. I've met some really nice people so far; and it makes a change from speaking Spanish -- although I've been inadvertently mixing it up a bit whereby my sentences become constructed into some sort of Esperanto (SpanoFrenlish); been getting some strange looks. Plus it's a pleasure to drive here; they're so courteous to one another (unlike the Majorcans!). And I just love the French countryside, Ricard, Noilly Prat, stinky cheese and pleasant wines. Haven't needed to spend more than €3 for a palatable red yet and, whilst I refuse to buy French wines in Spain, you have to spend upwards of €6 (supermarket) for a Spanish wine that's not gut-rotting, headache-inducing tooth enamel stripping plonk! Still, after 5 weeks here I'll be looking forward to returning to Paradise Island; you gotta get away to find the need to come back. It's 40+º in Majorca this month, with up to 90% humidity; we're enjoying some Carcassonne-style rain/sun/rain/sun 32º-days with balmy evenings and much lower humidity. It was even cool enough to need to wear socks today.

Back to the topic: all post-'62 CB seats should interchange with no hindrance.
