Ohtsu tires.Ohtsu tires. Were Ohtsu whitewalls orignal tires for any year of Dream? I thought I read a post to that effect a couple of years ago, but I'll be danged if I can find it again.
coldn't find anything in Silver's Dream resto volume. I tried searching "Ohtsu" on the site and came up with zero hits. Waded through about 10 pages of "tires" search and gave up. Would appreciate any info anyone has.
Ohtsu whitewallsThanks for the reply, Paul.
When I found this CA77 long ago, the guy had two bikes. One was a white 1964. The other was red and apparently one of the very early CA's, I think 1961. Motor number CA77E A100XX. I ended up with the red tank, 1961 motor and the wheels/tires from the red bike with Ohtsu whitewalls on them. That was in 1972, so I guess there is a chance they were the original tires for the '61. Any information anyone else has would be appreciated.
Ohtsu whitewallsThanks for the responses, guys. Bill Silvers responded to my question as follows:
"Yes, Ohtsu was an OEM tire manufacturer for Honda. Even early ATC90s had Ohtsu tires on them. Early bikes had wide whitewalls, which were narrowed for later models... 1963-64 is the probable changeover time." My tires have the wide whitewalls and even have good tread. I wouldn't ride on them, but they will make for interesting conversation.
