Brake pedal light switch -need help

Post by mike1969 » Sun Jul 25, 2010 4:25 pm

I'm having trouble get my brake light to work.

If work the switch manually the brake light works, but when I push on the brake pedal I get no movement of the wire that activates the switch. Everything is connected but no movement.

Anyone have any tips?

Loosen the switch at the mount and move it up or down to tighten the tension on the spring.

Brewsky,
I've tried that. I'm getting no movement of the actuator that pulls the wire of the switch down.

Model of bike, Mike? All three -- C/CA, CB & CL -- differ.

Sorry Steve, I have a 66 Dream CA77. After 6 years of working on it i'm finally ready to put it on the road!

My pics are too large for forum.

Like this pic? (And don't reply "mine's black/blue/white" -- that won't make much difference! Arf!!)

So it works OK when you pull on the switch plunger itself, yes? Does the plunger move smoothly without any grittiness or clicking? If so then that rules out electrical faults and it looks like it could be a simple mechanical problem with the lever & fulcrum system.
