HELP!!! Chain Tensioner?!

Post by MBellRacing » Sun Jun 27, 2010 4:48 pm

Hey guys, been working like mad to finish up this motor. Got it all back together sans one of the side covers, the carbs, and the chain tensioner. The last of that list has quickly become a problem! I got this spare block with my bike and since it had the better sleeves than the original, I used it for honing and reassembly. I went to put on my original chain tensioner and noticed that the holes are misaligned. The hole pattern on the block is substantially larger than the original tensioner. Both blocks say 305cc on the front, so I know I didn't go and do something REALLY off. EVERYTHING else on this block has matched up perfectly except this final part. Did I just install a Dream block, or something? Is there an early and late version of the tensioner? I was really hoping to get this engine in early this week so I want to know what I need to fix ASAP!!!

Any help is very appreciated!

I'd say ya have a 67 engine and now have a Pre. 67 cylinder which does have a wider tensioner. .............lm

Thanks LM!

Any idea where I can find one? Are you sure that the early one is the fatter one? This bike seems to be a stolen and re-VIN-ed '61-63 bike and I would assume the engine is as well. I want to get this part as soon as I can so I can get the thing going!

Thanks again!
