general carb question?

working on a bike that was sitting for many years. bike starts and runs on full choke. what is that a symptom of . what jet is clogged. what should i look for. I will take the carb apart and clean it , but wondered why it will run on full choke??

A sure sign of fuel starvation. A thorough strip 'n' clean with carb cleaner and/or a cheapo, domestic steam cleaner is, as you say, in order before any further assessments can be considered.

Good ya want to take the carb apart as I think ya need to for sure.
Ya will find 2 jets in there.
Both MUST BE CLEAN for the engine to run correctly. (all holes clear)
The reason for the need to have the choke on in my opinion is the idle/slow jet and or passages are plugged. ......lm
