soaking carbs

Post by Rich » Wed May 24, 2006 11:31 pm

I have my carb pretty much disassembled and have been using carb cleaner to work off the varnish left on all of the components by the gas that sat in it for the last 20 years. Is it OK if I soak all of the carb components in a solution, mabye just water & possibly soap for a while? Or is there a special type of solution I could use.

Rich, I use the soapy water to clean up after I soak a carb in carb cleaner, other than that I don't believe the soap and water treatment will take off any varnish. Good Luck, Steve
