Good call; undercutting is an important aspect that often gets overlooked, thus causing unnecessary arcing and commutator / brush 'burning'. These brushes actually rarely need replacement, but $25/pair is about the going rate for our relatively rare copper-graphite items.
Forum member FAST FRED KOREN advised me, a while back, that Ohio Cycle stocks both Kokusan and Denso brushes at that price. There's usually a brass manufacturer's plate on the motor body.
G'luck!
