Ok, so my bike came with the Clymer manual from the previous owner. I wanted to do a tappet adjustment today b/c it was a little noisy and that part had yet to be checked. The bike is suppose to be a 1968. The Clymer manual states that for tappet adjustment, late models get adjusted at only the T point of the timing plate while the early year models get adjusted at T for the right and LT for the left side.
When rotating the shaft I was suppose to see both sides open at the T marker at different times however it was not happening like that. The left side would only be open on both valves at the LT marker. Started making me wonder if I had an older engine or something wasn't put together properly. Anyway, I did the adjustment as an earlier year model and my ticking doesn't seem to be any better. It might be in my head but it may seem a bit worse. The noise is definitely coming from the tappets. Of course, I have very little experience with the older bikes so it may just sound like this.
Anyway, for reference, my frame code and engine code are below:
Frame: CB771081952
Engine: CB77E-1031962
Ideas/comments/suggestions?
This thing seems to be a bag of problems lately. I can't wait to rebuild the engine and get new parts for it. Nothing I hate more than swapping an intended ride for maintenance time.

Cyclon, you did the adjusment correctly, assuming you had it on the correct T and LT. Did you try rotating one revolution to T and LT and check clearance again? If you adjust clearance on the wrong cycle, they will be way off. Other thing that like to make that noise in the engine are the mechanical advance, and loose wrist pins. search the forum, there are many posts on this subject!

Thanks for the input. Do you know if the engine matches up to the year of the frame?

Have the points cover and the stator cover off.
Looking at the rotor and the pointer on the stator at "T" now look at the points cam and be sure the line on it points cam is "UP".
Adjust the right side cams.
Turn the rotor 180 degrees and the line will be "down" and set the left side cam. ...............lm

Can you get a good, high-res photo of your frame number? According to documentation, 108XXXX was never achieved. Last CB77 frame number was 1056432.

Just checked the frame, it's a 3 not an 8. I guess my title was typed up wrong. I guess that would mean the engine is original since it's only 10 away from the frame.
