Honda 305 Just AcquiredHonda 305 Just AcquiredWell, just brought the Honda 305 home - frame CB77 1032915 engine CB77E 1033098. Posted some low resolution pictures - just learning. Been left for 10 years near coast so three color paint scheme, black, silver and rust. Rear lamp lens missing but thats about all - even has original Honda key. Engine kicks over but throttle doesn't move so slides stuck. The Rhode Island plate on the back has "68" stamped into the bottom right corner so this is probably when it was first registered. Wife says leave it alone until I have other projects completed. Had to have this though as I have its Italian clone, a drum brake Laverda SF1 750 - also a project in parts in my garage at present. One item I did note is that the steering adjuster is rectangular rather than circular - does this help data the bike along with aluminum sliders?
Lastman Excellent looking project you have there. Hope those mufflers are intact. Welcome to the forum. I am restoring a similar bike which has been 'environmentally challenged' for a number of years.

Trying to get the wife interested in bikes and graciously offered that she could clean up the bike at her own convenience - still waiting for her response.

Don't hold your breath on that one, chum! Looks like chrome fenders? They've probably been added by a PO; they weren't a standard fitment until frame #CB77-1056084, according to documentation. Ed (lm) may chime in with some nuggets of info, in due course. Are the exhaust systems 'one-piece' or do the headers separate from the mufflers? One-piece systems were intro'd as standard at 1050970. From an ex pat in the USA, where are you in Spain? The exhaust system is not one piece, fenders not chrome but light gray paint. Wife still mulling over bike, but she was the one who said "it looks nice buy it". Stay tuned as she claims if I move out out of the garage she will have a go at it. From the photos it looks like the mudguards (now I know I'm talking to a fellow Brit!) are rusted chrome; I stood for correction by use of the question mark there. I/we would be interested to know the year on the wiring harness tag, though. That would help associate your frame number with year-of-manufacture knowledge on the forum. Honda records, according to Bill Silver's database, show frame numbers 1000001-1056342 merely as "1965-1967" production. The '68 plate could be first reg date, I s'pose; I'm not familiar with US registration methods (throw light on the subject anyone?). Production is known to have ceased in '67, but some hung around in dealerships thru' '68 and a few were registered as late as '69. Try lacing the Merlot with vodka......
