Rims - What Size Front and Rear?

Post by Ilbikes » Sun Mar 28, 2010 10:14 pm

Mine are in rough shape and I really don't think getting these chromed is feasable - they are just too bad.

Akront used to sell an aluminum rim and it had the reinforced shoulders - much like those stock on the CL77. Has anyone found a resource for these or an aluminum/steel alternative?

Thanks,
Gordon

Gordon, Buchannons sells Excells shouldered rims, and stainless spoke made to order. Your looking at about $600 for two rims, and two sets of spokes. here's a link to thier website. You could also watch Ebay for some rims that are re-chromable, in the end it will cost a similar amount, but will be " correct"

I found an Italian company that sells Akront copies.

I paid $211 with the then exhange rate and it took about 4 weeks to deliver. Good quality and price!

Thanks guys. I simply cannot find where the rim widths are specified and it's not marked on my originals. The fiche on-line doesn't have them listed, so no help with part numbers. I know they are 40 hole 19", but can one of you confirm the widths?

Thanks,
Gordon

Gordon, I believe the CLs use a WM2 front, and a WM3 rear. The CBs use a WM1 front, and a WM2 rear.

Gordon,

When the tires are off, measure the rims across the inside where the tire bead sits. Don't be surprised if the sizes are not exactly the stock dimensions. manufacturing tolerances with rolled steel being what they are.
