My 67 CP77 weird flashers & tail light

Post by Flashy65 » Wed Feb 06, 2008 1:19 pm

I have a CP77 with strange lights on it. It has a small tail light housing and lense and tiny round flashers. I'm convinced the flashers are factory because of the neat little rear shock-top brackets that hold them on.

All I got with this bike was a title and a story of the 1st owner who rode it all around Europe. Is there any way to see if this is a non-U.S./Canadian/European model by analizing the VIN? Thanks for any help or suggestions!

I was searching for a Canadian CP pic that I posted last year and came across your unreplied-to post; that's a Canadian CP, denoted by the combination of the winkers and the early CB taillight, which continued to be fitted to the models destined for Canada until around '65/early '66.

Thanks for the reply. I did get a story from the previous owner that his uncle from Canada got the bike new in Europe, rode it around there, then brought it home. I found it in pieces at a Car Show flea market (with title). I spent more money in replacement chrome parts than I did for the entire bike.

I would like to know if it is supposed to have a steering damper on it (I've been told that it should).

It's not the prettiest CP Superhawk out there, but very sound running and riding cycle.

Confirmed, on that score.

Someone must have removed the hydraudlic piece and mounts at some time then. I'll be hunting that now I suppose.

My mistake

My mistake - I meant the hydraulic 'shock' damper on the right side. I've been told by an 'expert' that all CP's should have this.
