Horn button spring

Post by toastyhamster » Sat Feb 06, 2010 8:02 am

Anybody had any luck making one? Some previous owner has bodged a copper one in there and it's not springy at all. Failing that has anybody got one going spare?

I had mine apart last week to fit my new 'bar but didn't notice the spring size. How about cutting a spring to length from a cheap ballpoint pen though, Toast?

Yeah I'd thought of that already, and it's likely I'll end up trying that.

Toasty,
I'm pretty sure I have a junk assembly for a cl around here. If the spring is the same as yours, It's yours. I'll check today. RW
As a matter of fact I do have a spring and if you shoot me an address I will send it along.

Tried the pen spring, sort of works but because it's slightly too big a diameter you have to push the button in quite hard and then wiggle it so it goes over the compressed spring and makes contact. Friendly MOT tester might pass it. Maybe.

Try cutting it a bit shorter then stretch it out to compensate.

It's not the length, it's the width. Might try dismantling a few more pens.
