Head gasket and o-rings

Post by chico » Mon Nov 09, 2009 5:53 am

Would someone be so kind as to tell me where to get oem head gasket and o-rings for my 66 CB 77 305 cc motor. I bought the rebuild gasket set that Retro Bikes offers and the head gasket leaked. It was installed properly. I will continue to deal with Retro Bikes, I think I just got bad gasket. I had the original head reworked and will use that one when I get new gasket. Thanks in advance.

Chico,

I bought a gasket set from Retro as well, but I also bought the separate Honda head gasket from them (don't know if they still have stock). When I installed the head gasket I used a bit of liquid gasket on the insides of the two oil stud holes to prevent oil from permeating into the gasket--I think Bill Silver's notes suggested this.

I can't remember if I did anything special with the o-rings.

I got my gasket kit from Sirius Consolidated and everything looks OK I'm in the process of re-assembly so can't offer any further advice but the gasket sealer around the studs sounds like a good idea.
