CL72 VS CL77

I'm doing a custom street tracker from a CL77. I don't have a CL77 crank, but I do have a CL72 crank, and a few CB77 cranks. I'm trying to steer clear of the CB cranks, as they have the starter sprocket that must remain on . Is there any reason not to use the CL72 crank? In Bill Silvers book he states that the 72s have smaller balance holes? I guess I could weld the oil hole shut for the starter sprocket as well.

If it is any help to you, I do now have a cl77 crank,rods and bearings in what seems to me in very good condition. If you need to stay with the 77, let me know and it can be arranged. RW

Thanks for the offer! The engine is assembled, with 3mm over pistons, X'd trans, racing valve and clutch springs. I stared her on Sunday, and can't get enough fuel down low. I am running 45 pilots, 140 mains, CL72 exhaust with baffles, and foam filters. I ran out of time, but will fool with it some more. I might have to post some pics, it's in mock-up for my street tracker project, and honestly looks like hell!
