TAKE A GOOD LOOK AT THE PARTS AND FRAME NUMBER VERSUS YEAR LISTED.
LOTS OF WORK BUT MANY PARTS FROM EARLIER ISSUES OF THE CL77. ..............lm

That first one is fetching a good price on eBay. This one looks more of a challenge for the purist. :-)

Tis funny how a bike with the wrong parts but a good paint job and "item description" can/will draw more $$$$ than a correct bike which needs a paint job. .............lm

Yep - that sadly seems to be true. To my advantage though, I've found that parts on eBay needing even the slightest amount of repair can be had quite cheaply compared with cosmetically 'perfect' NOS parts that still might need restoration to make them usable.

A funny world isn't it?. Incidentally I read through all your answers here hoping to build up my knowledge on these great little bikes. It's hard to get anything at all here in the UK so sometimes we have to be satisfied with a bike that looks 'near enough' rather than a truly 'back to stock' machine.

I'm having great fun with both my CLs. One (67 CL77) will be pretty but not perfect, the other ('63 CL72) I have almost all of the 'right' parts for now so I might attempt to do something that's as near stock as possible. Still trying to find some 1963 Japanese air for the tires, though..........

AS LM said, I had the same experience at Mid-Ohio. I took a 1966 CL77 to sell. Have the original title when it was first sold and all the subsequent registrations even the tool kit. Had the early (8 hole) front fender with an excellent stay, new battery and was complete. Could have used a paint job and attention to the inside of the tank from a previous owners hap-hazard Kreme job. Asking $2800. Some clown said he could buy one three aisles over for $400 and I suggested that he just trot his narrow gauged ass on over and buy it and stop bothering me. Was sort of hoping I'd irritated him enough to take a swing so I could put his lights out. Don't mind haggling as it's part of the "game", but don't insult me. Must go with my being old (72). I did manage to have a pretty good trip selling. Hell, I couldn't even get $900 for a completely rebuilt engine with carbs. Plug and play after adding oil. Even painted Honda silver and polished components. The great(?) Tim McDowel stopped buy and admitted he gets $2000 for the same job. Go figure! He had one in pieces (bike) I should have bought from him. It looked pretty good and was all there even with a good exhaust. Oh well, hindsight has always been 20-20.
