All you guys posting the neat pics of the cafe racers have inspired me to reincarnate my spare bike, Bob the Bobber, as a cafe racer. A couple of pics will follow, but I have a couple of questions.
Bob came with a home-made kickstand: a centerstand would not clear the edges of the tread on the rear tire. Is there some magic trick to this, or do I just have a tire with too "blocky" a tread ( its an old bridgestone 4.00x18. Can be seen behind the pic of the replacement forks)
What does it take to put turn signals on ? the wiring harness should have the connections, since its a '66, and I know I will need a switch. Being electrically challenged, I am not sure where the turn signal relay comes in.

forgot to mention: there are 2 pics of forks. You can see that the early style forks met with an immoveable object. the forks with the wheel on are the replacements.

Mike, the bike looks cool! Did you make the right exit pipe? The grey wire is for the relay, orange and light blue for the signals. You should be able to find a wiring diagram that shows signal wiring. Can the rear wheel be slid farther back in swingarm to clear the tire? If not, a more street oriented tread would probably be the way togo, or try to find one of those hard to find sidestands for it.

Thanks for the info guys. I have a lot of work to do on the wiring. The po "improved" the harness greatly ( the ignition switch has been moved to the upper left hand side of the headlight bucket for example, and there is a lighted rocker switch under the seat which does ?.
As far as the exhaust, it is home made of very heavy guage tubing of some sort: dont know about the little mufflers. The brackets that hold it clamped to the frame on each side are made of 2 Honda hand holds welded together. According to what I was told the original owner passed the bike down to his kids to learn to ride. Hence the swap on the front end to an early style front forks, headlight bucket, speedo. Many other mods to bike also ( BUT it will start ! Has no electric starter, but kicker lights it up just fine !) See attached of what it looked like on the back of my truck, and also of the plaque on the side of fender.
In another line, is there any interest in reproduction footpeg brackets for the CB 77's ? I have a friend who at one time did some castings for some reloading tools, and I am thinking of checking out having some made if enough people are interested. PM me if interested.

Mike, look inside the headlamp bucket and around the aft end of the main harness, close to the taillight wiring terminations to the rear fender harness; you should find a pair of vacant female bullet receptacles (double-types inside the bucket) attached to light blue and orange wires. These are for the lamps -- orange is left side. Also inside the bucket, there should be a single receptacle attached to a grey wire -- this is the supply to the L/R switch (centre contact) from the flasher relay.

If you have these wires then you'll also find the other end of the grey, along with a black wire, around the rectifier location -- the black is +12V (ignition fed) and attaches to the '+' (or '+15' / +49 [+15 = '12V ignition circuit']) of a flasher relay. Get an electronic type from a motor accessory store. The grey wire attaches to terminal 'L' (Lamps), sometimes denoted as 'X' or 49a, of the relay. If you end up buying a 3-pin flasher, insulate the 'centre' terminal which is usually for a single dashboard warning lamp.
