Before I brake it, I'll ask !!

Please tell me ,There must be a trick to undoing this nut????
I thought I better ask you guy's before I go applying any heavy handed methods . I don't want to brake it . This nut is VERY tight , I'm sure one of you guys would have more experience than me about this Steering nut . I'm trying to drop the forks & tree out so I can sandblast the frame . Here's a pic !! I see that I'm not the only one asking advice on it's removal.
thanks Peter

Try heating and or soaking it with blaster for acouple of days. I used a pipe wrench with a length of pipe to extend handle for more leverage on one. May need a helper to hold the frame still.
Hi Thanks , So it's just a normal nut ? Nothing else that holds it on but age ,rust & being tight , Now I know it does just unscrew I will be a bit forceful with the dam thing .
Thanks Peter

It has a lot of fine shallow threads so any crap in there really does make it hard. use a small wire brust to get the threads as clean as you can before you start trying to remove it.

Matt

Got IT off !!
, Had to heat it up a little , but then it came off with no dramas. Once I knew what type of Nut it was , it wasn't a problem . This payday I'll buy a Manual !!
Thanks for your help / Peter
