Chains

Post by sotxbill » Wed Jul 22, 2009 4:52 pm

ok,, I need a new chain for my 67 cl77.. Whats all the hype about oring chains and xring chains. Do they work? Will they work on our bikes? Are they worth the bother and expense.

If not how many links (how long) and it is a 530 chain if I remember correctly.

Chain opinions are appreciated. Since the search didnt show any drive chain info, what kind of chain lube is good and better. Any chain wisdom or advice? I used some chain spray from home depot that looks like graphite in a kerosine carrier. It at least loosen up the old chain. How long does a chain last?

Thanks Bill

Bill, 530 is correct, i'm not sure about number of links. I usually get 100 links, and cut to size with chain breaker. O-ring an X-ring chains are great on dirt bikes, but not necessary for these old bikes. They do rob a bit of power as well. I've bought a couple of chains from this seller on ebay, and have been very pleasec with parts and seller. i use Bel Ray extra clean chain lube on all of my bikes, dirt, street, and classic. It goes on white, looks like lithium grease, and dries nicely and doesn't fly off.
