Rocker Arm Slop (In The Shaft Axis)Rocker Arm Slop (In The Shaft Axis)While I was adjusting the valves I noticed the left exhaust rocker arm had extra play on the shaft. That is, the arm could slide ~1/8" (total) along the axis of the shaft. It was the only arm that had that much play. Is this a problem? Do I need to fix this NOW or can I ride it for a while?

Thanks,
Tom
Re: Rocker Arm Slop (In The Shaft Axis)I would look at what is in place on all the roockers and look for something to be missing or broken and at what happens at the extreme of either end of the rockers play. If the cam side is always riding on the cam lobe and the valve stem side is always riding on the stem at either side of the 1/8" then you are probably ok. I know the piston has close to that much play on the little end on a lot of stuff I've worked on. I'll check my manual tonight and see if there is a spec.

Matt
