Question about battery amps required

Post by Scram64 » Wed Jun 17, 2009 10:26 pm

I have a custom project that relocates the battery to a tight area. Question, is it possible to run a
7 amp 12 volt battery when using an electric start CA77 motor. The battery physical size is a determining factor for location. What problems would I face. Thanks in advance, Scram64

I run my CB77 with a 7Ah batt. I have winkers, a compact air-horn and my kickstarter's shagged so the electric starter is always used. I've fitted an AM Schottky-diode rectifier and use an LED taillight bulb, a Philips 6W halogen parking lamp up front (always on when riding) and a 35/35W halogen headlight bulb (flipped 'on' in appropriate situations). Never had to externally charge the battery and never had a problem, apart from running it flat once during some static use, after which I jumped it from the car to start the bike.
