Charging system not charging on 1963 305 dream

Post by caldreamin » Sun May 17, 2009 1:36 pm

My lights aren't getting brighter when I goose the throttle and the battery doesn't have the juice to fire the electric starter any more, the battery is new, I put a meter on the battery terminals with bike running and showed 10.5 on the meter, reving the bike did not increase the reading on the meter, can anybody tell me how to troubleshoot the charging system, weather its the rectifier or stater or something else, hopefully its not something serious or expensive, also will the bike shut down if the battery gets to low while riding .....putting me to walking or will it run fine as long as there is a little juice in there? Thanx!! Dave

Click on search, type in charging system, and you will come up with three pages of posts.
